Today we arrived at the western realm of the archipelago. This is the youngest area and the home of some unusual birds and reptiles. In the morning, we explored Fernandina Island at Punta Espinoza and encountered large groups of marine iguanas sunbathing, while others were swimming to feed on algae.
This afternoon we went to the northwestern area of Isabela Island to Punta Vicente Roca. This area has one of the most strikingly beautiful landscapes of the islands. We enjoyed a lovely Zodiac exploration along the coast and found several blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, Galapagos penguins and Galapagos flightless cormorants.
