We were greeted by an incredible towering shield volcano as we landed at Fernandina Island. The new volcanic landscape is mesmerizing, with masses of marine iguanas warming in the sun, and unique wildlife at every turn. Young Galapagos sea lions appeared to capture more attention as they frolicked in the tidal pools. A snorkeling excursion with Pacific green sea turtles and grazing marine iguanas allowed us to connect with crystalline waters.

The afternoon navigation takes us to the northern region of Isabela Island and Punta Vicente Roca. A casual Zodiac ride gave us the opportunity to experience close encounters with Galapagos penguins and flightless cormorants, as turtles break the surface of the water for a breath of air. An incredible sunset closes this special day as we cross the equatorial line.
