We enjoyed a great day on Espanola, one of the oldest islands in this archipelago. We began with a pre-breakfast outing, kayaking along the coast. After, many of our guests decided to go deep-water snorkeling at Gardner Isle. We found several playful Galapagos sea lions and colorful schools of fish. This was followed by a visit to the beautiful white sandy beach of Gardner bay, a delight for photography and wildlife enthusiasts as you can easily spot sea lions, Espanola mockingbirds, and Espanola lava lizards.
In the afternoon, National Geographic Islander repositioned to Punta Suarez for more activities. An energetic hike was offered, and we observed waved albatross birds, Nazca boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, blue-footed boobies, and plenty of the colorful marine iguanas. What a fantastic day!
