Today, we were treated to wonderful weather and calm seas on our last day visiting Vanuatu. A busy schedule of activities awaited us. We embarked on Zodiacs to visit a nearby beach, where we were welcomed by the locals and treated to fresh coconuts. Our next destination was not far away along the coast. As we cruised in Zodiacs, we enjoyed views of rich jungle vegetation above the limestone atoll cliffs. We visited a sea turtle hatchery, where hatchling sea turtles are raised in filtered tanks. When they reach subadult size, they are released in the wild.
Before returning to the ship for lunch, we took time to enjoy the beautiful waters and coral reefs with a delightful snorkeling session within the sheltered bay.
Finally, we began to celebrate the festive holiday season in the evening by singing Christmas songs with the wonderful crew of National Geographic Orion.
