Rising again to another gorgeous sunrise, we grabbed some coffee and again boarded our skiffs to enjoy the awakening of the rain forest. Early and late is the best time to be out and active, and today we once again took advantage of the time the critters are active and the light is magical. Add to that a late morning beach party, and we had another great day.
Wildlife was again a highlight, with many monkey species being seen. Numerous groups of squirrel monkeys were exciting. These acrobatic monkeys do some impressive leaps, but as well can sit quietly, peering around for fruit or insects to feed upon. A single capuchin monkey showed off its prehensile tail, expertly descending a large tree by a vine. And around sunset, big and fuzzy monk sakis were seen preparing to curl up for the night.
To break up our day a bit, we went for a walk on a beautiful large sand beach. Near here, there is a muddy bank, that supposedly contains therapeutic mud. I am not completely sure of the qualities of this mud, but I can say that it feels great when it is smeared all over your body! It dries onto your body, feeling nice and cool, and gives your skin a lovely silky feel. From there, we plunged into the river and drifted with the current. Warm and wonderful, we enjoyed a good rinse and swim.
We returned in the late afternoon to the warm glow of the Delfin II, and got underway towards another exciting adventure for tomorrow.
