Good morning from the National Geographic Sea Lion, presently exploring the family islands of the Bahamas—a group of lesser traveled islands. Our plans for today were shuffled by the notorious winds in this region. Fortunately, there were plenty of other sites to choose from in a country of 700 islands. If one island, or cay (pronounced “key”) does not work for an excursion, we pull up anchor and find another spot. Today, we went as far south as Castle Island, gazed upon the stunning lighthouse, and watched as white-tailed tropic birds and a brown booby flew overhead. Then we turned back to Crooked Island to explore Albert town, where we swam and relaxed at one of the many pristine beaches this country is known for.
