This morning, facing rougher seas than expected, National Geographic Venture headed for the safety of the mainland, along the California Coast. Mother Nature compensated by giving us a spectacular sunrise of extreme pinks, oranges, and blues.
We spent the day enjoying science talks on subjects such as kelp forest ecology. We were truly impressed by the presentation of Greg Marshall, inventor of the Critter-cam, a video camera that attaches to wild animals to passively observe animals in their day-to-day lives. We ended the evening with a beautiful dinner and breathtaking sunset just outside Malibu, California.
Tomorrow, if the weather calms, we head to Anacapa Island!
