A great day was just about to start. Brown boobies, frigate birds, brown pelicans, and many other birds came from Bona Island to give us a warm welcome. As we got prepared for the expedition landing craft explorations, our guests were getting more and more exited. The visit to those nesting colonies has always been a highlight on our expeditions and today was not an exception.

Our lovely day continue with the visit to Taboga Island, a former fisher’s village filled with the taste of Panama. Our visit to this island included a walk and the visit to the local church, which dates from the late 1500’s. We had also time to enjoy the crystal waters at the beach of this charming place.

It was time to go back aboard the National Geographic Sea Lion and the excitement wasn’t coming down. We all knew it was time to get prepared for our transit across the Panama Canal. On board, our galley had prepared a delicious buffet dinner. It was served out in the sundeck with a spectacular view of the skyline of Panama City and the anchored ships that were waiting to cross the canal.

Finally and as expected, the Panama pilot came onboard and our transit of the Panama Canal started. Everyone was amazed by this masterpiece of engineering that just celebrated 100 years of its construction. At the end we all went to sleep thinking on our last day that is about to come tomorrow on this amazing expedition.
