It’s our final day of exploring and we awoke to a beautiful sunrise at the fishing town of Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos, where our gray whale watching guides live.
We went out first thing in the morning for a whale watching tour. We looked inside the bay, but had more success in the Boca de Soledad, where most of the gray whales spend their time waiting for the arrival of more individuals to participate in breeding. We saw the first blows and backs of some whales in the distance. We witnessed various gray whale behaviors, such as spy-hopping, breaches, and flukes.
Later, we traveled south down the Hull Canal, returning to the central portion of Magdalena Bay. We went ashore at Santa Magdalena Island and walked across the dunes to reach the Pacific Ocean and visit Sand Dollar Beach. It was a perfect way to end our journey enjoying the beauties of Magdalena Bay.
