The water was a deep electric blue as we sailed through calm seas far from shore in transit toward Chuuk and Micronesia—water so blue that Expedition Leader Andy Wolff exclaimed it matched the hull color of National Geographic Resolution perfectly.
We had a full day at sea aboard National Geographic Resolution today. This meant plenty of time to enjoy the ship’s many amenities, including yoga in the wellness studio, birdwatching from the top deck, and a series of insightful lectures.
Presentations included an overview of Polynesian migration from Austronesia by Tua Pittman and Jenny Kingsley, an overview of the seabirds of tropical oceans by Santiago Imberti, and a presentation on World War II in the Pacific, featuring important locations we will visit on our journey.
It was a lovely and relaxed day where we could enjoy the ship and the views.
