After our first two days packed full of activities, guests had a lie in this morning as we began our long transit from Raiatea, French Polynesia to Rarotonga, Cook Islands. After breakfast, we were treated to a presentation on coastal habitats, where we learned about a variety of ecosystems and why they are important. Then we were treated to a talk on seabirds, after which everyone was encouraged to go out to the bow to search for birds themselves.
Lunch was up next, and chef Ivan and his galley team never disappoint.
The afternoon brought another pair of presentations. The first left guests with the ability to identify 80% of all fish in the ocean! A monstrous, well-executed feat. That was followed by a presentation on the importance of the coconut. Our cultural specialist gave an amazing talk on the uses of coconut in the Pacific culture. Of course, we had to honor the fruit by having cocktails in coconut vessels!
After dinner, we watched an important movie regarding the revival of Pacific voyaging culture, Moana. A smashing success, the movie combines cultural accuracy and a riveting plot line.
