Awakening to golden skies and calmer winds, we were joined by numerous albatross species soaring effortlessly astern of the ship. Our morning started with a viewing of Camille Seaman’s favourite images from the trip. Camille is a National Geographic photographer, and she reminded us of where we have come from and how much we have achieved along the way. So much wildlife and beauty are packed into this EPIC Antarctica trip.
A delicious barbecue lunch was followed by time on the back deck with the naturalists and Doug Gualtieri, our top birder, to enjoy the bird display. Later in the afternoon, our eagle-eyed bridge team spotted pilot whales and the Southern Ocean’s holy grail of marine mammals: the southern right whale dolphin.
The day ended in style with the crew show, which showcased hidden talents while providing us with entertainment to celebrate this amazing, once in a lifetime trip.
