Today Amy, our wellness coordinator, began the stretching exercises on board National Geography Sea Lion. The daily activities started with an early expedition landing craft cruise and many of our guests joined us at 6:45 a.m. to explore an interesting mouth of a river. While we were heading to the river, a flock of pelicans greeted us by flying in a v-formation very close to us. In the distance, the haze covered the tree top of the forest that surrounds Drake Bay. Right at the entrance of the Agujitas River we got to see a flock of seven chestnut-mandible toucans, bare-throated tiger herons, Amazon king fishers, and several other birds.

After this fantastic outing, the expedition landing craft returned to National Geography Sea Lion to enjoy a well-deserved breakfast. Meanwhile, we weigh anchor and repositioned in front of Caletas Beach. We landed in a private reserve and explored the surroundings. While some went on hikes, others decided to go horseback riding towards Rio Claro, crossing creeks from time to time.

At lunch, we all gather together for a delicious picnic and returned back to the vessel. Once more we weighed anchor and went to San Pedrillo Field Station in Corcovado National Park. Here, some guests explored Pargo trail and others went towards a pristine waterfall. After the walk through the forest, almost everybody swam in the crystal waters of San Pedrillo River.

Towards the end of the day and when almost all the guests returned to the vessel, a tayra decided to show up at the beach. It was a very special moment not only because it happened in one of the most pristine national parks of Costa Rica but also because the tayra decided to return to the beach once again for a longer period.

We all returned to National Geography Sea Lion and navigated towards Drake Bay, looking for calm waters where we enjoyed a well-deserved and delicious dinner.
