Svea Anderson

Svea grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with woods and a reservoir behind her house and a “when it gets dark” curfew. Hours were spent exploring the woods and fishing in the reservoir. This love of nature inspired her to pursue degrees in Fish and Wildlife Biology and a Masters in Environmental Education.

Svea has spent the last 21 years as a public school educator, fostering this same love of the natural world for her middle school students. Svea was selected as a PolarTREC educator, spending time in the Arctic tundra conducting ecological research on Nitrogen cycling and shrubs. She has continued to go back into the field as a volunteer to help with the research.

Svea is a National Geographic Certified Educator and Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and has spent time with Lindblad in Alaska, Newfoundland, and Labrador. In her spare time, Svea enjoys writing for NPR’s Science Friday, playing disc golf, and biking.
