Erin McFadden
Erin was born and raised in Scotland in the small coastal town of Dunbar. She decided to leave home at the age of 17 to pursue her interests in Marine Biology and Scuba Diving – a decision that has since led to many years diving across the globe and from north to south. Erin has a BSC(Hons) in Marine Biology, and an MSc in Marine Systems and Policies from the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh respectively. In 2011 Erin was awarded the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society’s 2011 European Rolex Scholarship, an opportunity that propelled her diving career and led her to the expedition industry.
Having dived across the globe throughout her career with Lindblad Expeditions, it is the Polar Regions that spark Erin’s curiosity more than any others, and to which she always choses to return. From 2018 to 2020 Erin worked on the upcoming 2022 BBC Landmark Frozen Planet 2, a job that saw her travel to the depths of the Arctic and Antarctic as part of small film crews. The only prospect that could tempt Erin away from exploring and diving the Polar Regions was that of Paramedic Practice. Today Erin is a full time Paramedic student back in Scotland, where she is pursuing her other dream of becoming a critical care and search and rescue paramedic. In her breaks from university Erin is hopefully to be found on a Lindblad vessel enjoying her passion for the Polar Regions.
